Don Moen – Thank You Lord

Filed under: Christianity, Songs — hendrikch @ 1:39 pm

I was waiting for my cell group leader on Friday in Jurong Point, Boon Lay when I went to Life Bookshop on the third floor. In the bookshop, I bought three CDs, one of them is the latest album from Don Moen, Thank You Lord. As usual, I ripped all of the songs using Windows Media Player into WMA format to my musics collection in hard drive. So what about the CD then? Well, it’s now waiting to be stored into my drawer with my other CD collections since I don’t need it anymore. Soon after I ripped all the songs, I copied the whole album into my iPAQ so I can listen to the album when I’m on journey.

Don Moen website describes this album as below.
“Thank You Lord” is filled with Moen’s trademark style of simple, intimate worship songs.

Moen wrote or co-wrote 6 of the 15 songs on Thank You Lord, including the title cut, which he penned after asking the Lord for a “simple song of thanks” that people could sing to express the gratitude in their hearts. More on the album and sample songs in Thank You Lord website.

Isn’t it amazing

Filed under: Christianity, Songs — hendrikch @ 1:28 pm

I heard another nice song today, titled “Isn’t it Amazing”, sang by Mark Farner in his “Just another Injustice” album sometime back in 1988.
I tried to look for the full lyrics, but just couldn’t find it through Google, so I will share a bit part of the song, which is the chorus.
Isn’t it amazing what a prayer can do?
When it all seems over, it will pull you through.
Isn’t it amazing how a broken heart grow strong.
You can listen to the song here.

I’ll be looking for the full lyrics again tonight.
In the mean time, if any of you do have the full lyrics, let me know can?

You raise me up

Filed under: Songs — hendrikch @ 1:26 pm

Josh Groban/Selah – You Raise Me Up
From the album Hiding Place

When I am down, and oh my soul, so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
Until You come and sit awhile with me

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up—to more than I can be

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up—to more than I can be

There is no life—no life without its hunger
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly
But when you come and I am filled with wonder
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up—to more than I can be

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up—to more than I can be

For Future Generations

Filed under: Christianity, Songs — hendrikch @ 1:16 pm

4Him – For Future Generations
From the album The Message

The signs are obvious, they are everywhere
All that we hear about is the gloom and despair
Too many would be prophets sayin’
“It’s the end of it all”
‘Cause mother earth can’t take much more
The hammer’s gonna fall
So nature has its needs, that’s a lesson learned
But it appears to me there are greater concerns
‘Cause we can save the planet
Thinkin’ we will somehow survive
But father time is calling us
To save somebody’s life,
so
CHORUS
I won’t bend and I won’t break
I won’t water down my faith
I won’t compromise in a world of desperation
What has been I cannot change
But for tomorrow and today
I must be a light for future generations
If we could find a way to preserve our faith
So those who follow us
See the price that was paid
Then maybe when they question
What it’s gonna take to survive
They’ll find the strength to carry on
In what we leave behind
REPEAT CHORUS
Lookin’ in the eyes of the children
Knowing that tomorrow is at stake
When the choice is up to them
Will they have the strength to say
We won’t bend and we won’t break
we won’t water down our faith
We won’t compromise in a world of desperation
What has been we cannot change
But for tomorrow and today
We must be a light for future generations
REPEAT

Label: Benson

Another song that I like, but it has been sometime since I last heard this song, so when I heard this song played in radio this morning, the memory came back.
I tell you what so good about this song, at least for me.
The first three lines of its chorus reminds us not to trash our faith even in the most difficult circumstances.
The next three lines encourages us to be an example for our next generations. The paragraph following that elaborates more about this topic on how by setting examples, our next generations can find the strength to carry on in a more difficult world of theirs.
“Lookin’ in the eyes of the children, and so on” gives us the responsibility not just to set an example, but to educate and teach our future children to have the strength to stay with their faith too.
Well, that’s roughly what I can take from this wonderful song from 4Him. How about you? Any comments? Write your comments using the link below.

Here I am to worship

Filed under: Christianity, Songs — hendrikch @ 1:11 pm

Here I Am To Worship
By Phillips Craig & Dean
From the album Let Your Glory Fall

Light of the world
You stepped out into darkness
Opened my eyes, let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You

Chorus:
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me

King of all days
Oh so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came to earth You created
All for love’s sakebecame poor

Chorus

I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross

Chorus

Here another song for your consumption. Enjoy.

You are my King

Filed under: Christianity, Songs — hendrikch @ 1:10 pm

You Are My King (Amazing Love)

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken
I’m accepted, You were condemned
I’m alive and well, Your Spirit is within me
Because You died and rose again

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken
I’m accepted, You were condemned
I’m alive and well, Your Spirit is within me
Because You died and rose again

Amazing love, how can it be
That You, my King, should die for me?
Amazing love, I know it’s true
It’s my joy to honor You
In all I do, I honor You

I’m forgiven because You were forsaken
I’m accepted, You were condemned
I’m alive and well, Your Spirit is within me
Because You died and rose again

Amazing love, how can it be
That You, my King, should die for me?
Amazing love, I know it’s true
It’s my joy to honor You
In all I do, I honor You

You are my King
You are my King
Jesus, You are my King
You are my King

Continuing the mood of the song I posted yesterday, Who am I?, today I heard another song which touched my heart very much as the “Who am I?” song.
This song was sang by Newsboys in their Adoration: The Worship Album while you may have heard this song sang by Darlene Zschech a couple of years back in Hillsong Worship Series

It touched my heart so great that I almost cried when I sang this song last week during Easter. OK, I’m a guy, but who said a guy cannot cry when given such a grace from the King of kings? It kept me thinking, wondering why my King should die for me? I think you should too.

Who am I?

Filed under: Songs — hendrikch @ 1:07 pm

Casting Crowns – Who Am I
From the album Casting Crowns

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart

Not because of who I am
But because of what You’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done
But because of who You’re

Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I’m calling
Lord, You catch me when I’m falling
And You’ve told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours

Who Am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again
Who Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me

I am Yours
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
‘Cause I am Yours
I am Yours

This song really touched my heart and still, especially during Easter that has just passed.
It shows how much and infinitely indescribeable the grace of our God. It reminds me to keep humble, knowing who am I that the Lord of everything would even care to know my name.

I saw a website where you can listen to part of the music, but I just couldn’t find it now. I’ll keep you posted when I’ve found the link.
