Lunch at Greenhouse, Ritz Carlton

Filed under: Dining — hendrikch @ 7:49 pm

I had my buffet lunch in Greenhouse today. It’s located in Ritz Carlton hotel at Marina Bay area. I would say that the food there are really really good. Few recommendations on what to look for if you go there: salad, tomatoes, big prawns, fish, sashimi, sushi, and desserts like tiramisu. Pretty much sums up almost everything they have there, hahaha… But I am not exaggerating, the food there are good, though at $45+++, it’s in the expensive range for lunch. Anyone have also tried eating there before?

Movies and Dining Out

Filed under: Dining, Going out, Movies — hendrikch @ 12:18 am

After spending record expenses last month for dining and movies, I was telling myself that this month, I must not spend as much as last month. However, any hopes of curbing expenses this month were dashed as early as my dinner on the first day of July. $12 at MOS Burger . That was last Friday.
After watching Batman Begins two weeks ago, on Saturday eight of us went to watch War of the Worlds at Bishan. We had our dinner at McD before the movie and our supper at Cafe Cartel afterwards. In Cafe Cartel, I had Eastside Brownie Stack. It was two pieces of brownies with rich chocolate topped with a vanilla ice cream, yummy
Yesterday, I had lunch with my colleagues at Secret Recipe for a farewell meal. It was a $17 set lunch for a main course, drink, soup of the day, and guess what, another brownie.
Today, after lunch, I dropped by the new mr. bean opened in Tanjong Pagar. I bought their $1.20 soya-ice-cream. Tasted like McD’s ice cream cone.

Buffet Lunch at LingZhi

Filed under: Avanade, Dining — hendrikch @ 11:41 pm

We are not exactly bored with all those hotel buffet, chinese food restaurant, or a simple hawker centre food, but today we went for something different. A totally vegetarian food!!!
Recommended by one of our colleagues, we went to LingZhi Vegetarian Restaurant at Far East Square. You can choose between ala carte or buffet. We went for the buffet steamboat cum dim-sum. Surprisingly, it was quite crowded given the nature of the food there. We are all healthy-eater today as we couldn’t find any meat there. What they have are dim-sum of fake char-siew pau, fake siew-mai, fake everything, which tastes very close to its fat-loaded original ones. Of course, you will find a lot of vegetables, all kinds of mushrooms including abalone mushroom (it’s just its shape resembles abalone), beancurd, carrot cake, etcetera etcetera. you get the idea.
For desert, they have pineapple mango sago. Taste good, but rather sour. And for information sake, how much was it? Prepare around $25 for the lunch. They have 10% discount for American Express card holder, but it’s only valid for ala-carte, not the buffet lunch. Next, I will surely have meat for my dinner tonight, and I will be looking forward to next lunch/dinner at Hua Ting Cantonese Restaurant, hahaha…

BBQ, Alcohol, and Amara

Filed under: Avanade, Dining — hendrikch @ 11:35 pm

After last month outing in Zouk Wine Bar, this month we had a BBQ last night somewhere around Clarke Quay. Satay, sausages, chicken wings, fried rice, fried bee-hoon, string-ray, prawns, corn, garlic bread, and such are on the food menu, and a lot of varieties of alcoholic drinks and fruit juices for the drink menu. Last night, I virtually had most alcohol in one night ever, in my whole life. I started with what we called Avanade plus, a mixture between Sparkling Wine and Sunkist, followed by Tequila Shot, Jack Daniels, Whisky Cola, Vodka with 7 Up, closed by Red Wine with 7 Up. Wow …  that was close to my maximum already. Amazingly, I was still quite sober last night, albeit a bit high. hahaha…  Sorry, I don’t have any photos since the one who took the photos is now overseas, will post as soon as I have it.

Today, for lunch, we went to Amara hotel for $50++ buffet , I had a lot that starts with "S": shark fin soup, sashimi, salmon, sushi, scallop, shrimps, salads, and those that doesn’t start with "S" like lobster, beef, chicken, mango mousse, etc. etc. A very filling lunch indeed.  But today, they didn’t have a discount for Citibank credit card holder, which they usually have, just because this week is the so-called Secretary Week. yeah right …

However, this week may still not comparable to what I may have next week. As of now, there are three dinners and one lunch already arranged for next week. Hahaha… so happy … Bring it on …

Steamboat dinner at Coca

Filed under: Dining — hendrikch @ 4:47 pm

I had my dinner at Coca Steamboat Restaurant Novena Square today. Had a lot of food from prawns and several unknown seafoods, chickens, beefs, all kinds of veggies, and all kinds of mushrooms. The dinner was good, the soup was tasty, the environment was quite cozy. And people say, save the best for last, and this time their dessert was the best. I ordered two-scoop ice cream cocktail and it was really really great, nice, sweet, and chilling. Okie, that’s for tonite, and now it’s time to call my parents. I have not called them since I was back from Jakarta three weeks ago.

Lunch @ Fullerton Hotel

Filed under: Dining — hendrikch @ 4:15 pm

I had my super-sumptuous lunch last Friday at Fullerton Hotel, Town Restaurant, an international buffet at S$38 per person. The buffet offers a generous array of appetisers including salad and sushi, soup, a selection of local and western main courses, carvings, and desserts.
The environment was cozy, added with the delicious array of choices made it my best lunch I ever had. Their sushi and desserts was my favorite. Highly recommended to try, overall it was much better than the one in Amara hotel I had few weeks back.
Thanks to the “sinful” and fattening lunch, I had to exercise a little bit harder by playing tennis for 3.5 hours during the weekend.

I’m so higgghhhh….

Filed under: Dining — hendrikch @ 4:09 pm

Not really high, but I think I’m a bit drunk after Wine Appreciation night in Wine Network in Holland Road. It was company’s recreation event where almost 30 persons show up. We tasted several kinds of wines, white wine and red wine, from different parts of the world, from Brazilian to South African’s.
I learned that wine was first found 7000 years ago.  In what we know now as Iraq, last time called Babylon. It was then learned in France, from where the wine tradition spreads around the world.
The owner of Wine Network also taught us how to properly hold a glass of wine, why the glass of wine is shaped as it is today, and why there are white wine and red wine. We were also taught that a good white wine should have a sparkling when near a light source.
Some wine we appreciated were tasted better than it smells, and some smells better than it tasted. Some smells like honey dew to me, some feel refreshing, and some just tasted well, like wine, hehehe…

It was really interesting to learn about wine and its history, and of course has a “little” taste to it along with finger food that tasted good.
