A new laptop !!!
Yeah, I’ve just received my new notebook last Wednesday, a Toshiba Tecra M2, with a very very good specs in it. It is meant to replace the old Dell Latitude C610, which I am still using until now.
The specs of this notebook are as follows:
- Intel Pentium M 1.8 GHz
- 1 GB of RAM
- 80 GB hard disk
- nVidia G-Force FX 5200Go
- DVD-Writer Super Multi Drive
- 2.26 kg
- 14.1″ screen with 1400×1050 resolution
- 1 GBps LAN and 54 MBps 802.11 b/g Wireless LAN
- Firewire port, SD card slot
I’ll bring the old Dell Latitude C610 back home, presumably for my mom to use. I have been using this new notebook for couple of days, and I can tell you that this machine is very very fast, especially with its 1 GB of RAM, hahaha..
And also, the screen is simply superb, excellent quality.
Oh yeah, just this week, I get myself another 40 GB of portable hard drive, with which I will carry my data around, no need to lug the notebook everywhere I travel to.

Flying off tomorrow
I will be flying off tomorrow morning for one week or so, and I will be back the following Sunday. I will be dropping by Hong Kong, San Fransisco, and Seattle before flying back to Singapore.
Well, certainly during this one week plus, I don’t think I will be maintaing this blog, but rest assured that by the time I came back, there will be a lot of stories and photos.
Adios for now, see you all when I come back.

How good is good enough?
I shall split this post into two sections.
The first one is the easiest to say but the hardest to do. The question is how good is good enough to go to heaven ? Answer is PERFECTly good. No mistake ever committed no matter what it is or how small it is. Nada. Zip. Zero. I am not going to discuss this further.
The second one is something related to my work. In fact, this was the question I asked my manager a couple of months ago. The question was how good our deliverables or solutions to customer should be before we can deliver it to customer. My manager’s answer was deliver something that you can be proud of. Something that sounds so simple but something that I have hold on to until now. The logic behind it is plain simple. If you cannot be proud of your own work, likely the customer will be dissatisfied too. This is precisely how I gauge the quality of my deliverables until now.
This practical advise is not confined to just working life. In fact, I have applied it few days ago when it was my turn to clean up house. How clean should the floor be before I stop? Answer is again simple, until I am proud of it. See? You can even apply this on simple matters. You can certainly use this during your industrial attachment, writing final year report, during exam, or even as simple as preparing gift for someone’s birthday.
Thrive to do the best you can that you can be proud of your work when you deliver them. Simple yet powerful.

My Working Life so far
Sorry for not be able to post as many blog as I did last week. I found myself busy doing work this week, not super busy, but busy enough to find time for blogging. I have not been able to upload the rest of my website as well. Soon I hope.
I think I have been in the circle of work this week. Wakes up 6.45 AM, reaches office around 8.45 AM, reaches back home again 7 PM earliest, provided I left at 5.30 PM. The time I reached home varies a lot, from 7 PM to 1 AM in the morning. When I am at home, I am usually not in the mood to do any more typing, because I have been typing the whole day!!!
No, I am not complaining, I love my work as a consultant, I really do. I still have time to play tennis, watch American Idol, O.C., and sometimes play a bit of computer games. It’s just that after work, tennis, and movie, and a bit of games, I don’t have more time to type my blog anymore. Besides, I have to quickly finish the article for my former high school magazine which due in two weeks time, complete the software I am doing in my free time for my parent’s company, which last week my mom asked for already, prepare for my MCSD.NET exam which I am currently planning to take the first out of five in June, and numerous small things to tackle.
But still, I will try to post at least two or three in my blog each week. Ah well … words … words … let’s see if I can prove that with actions … or else, it’ll be NATO (No Action Talk Only).
Oh, by the way, I can’t believe La Toya London was sent packing from Idol this week. The best singer was kicked out? What was America thinking???!!! Too bad I couldn’t vote.. What do you think?
