As planned, I went to COMEX in Suntec City on Friday, with clear plan on what to buy. Not wasting any time in Suntec, I only went to booths that sell what I wanted to buy, and I got all in my NEED-TO-HAVE list.
First and foremost, Canon Digital IXUS 860IS from Canon booth. The advertised price was $549, but after asking, I got it for $519 without $30 Taka voucher (who needs it anyway?) and free screen protector. So, for $519, I got the camera with screen protector, camera case, Toshiba 4GB Class 2 SDHC card, Kingston 8GB Class 6 (the fastest) SDHC card, mini SDHC card reader, and digital kit bag containing lens cleaner, dust blower, and mini table tripod. Pretty good deal.
From Canon booth on 4th floor, I went to 6th floor for Memory World to get Eko’s 16GB Class 6 SDHC card. He told me the price was $89 on Thursday, but since he didn’t bring enough cash on that day, he asked me to get one for him on Friday. Fortunately for him, the price was slashed to $69 when I was there, so I got one for him. 16GB SD card for $69 now, I got my 256MB SD card for $150 a few years back !!!!
Now, I can get 64 times the capacity for half the price, *sigh*.
Next up was 2.5″ portable hard disk, after little scouting, I ended up getting Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB. Earlier in the day I checked its Simlim price was $200, and the show price was $149.90, so I decided to get that one. I was looking for Seagate, but sadly, they were only selling their desktop drives, no portable hard drives to be seen
Unlike usual IT shows, I didn’t stay long in COMEX this time round, so I won’t be tempted to get other things haha…. So far, so good, mission to COMEX accomplished.
I know Asen bought an LCD monitor, anyone else went to COMEX for shopping? What did you get?
