Don Moen - I Will Sing

26 10 2006

As a Christian, it doesn’t mean that our life will be free from troubles and problems. We pray, I pray, but there are times when we really really don’t feel like praying, for whatever reason. This was the song that encouraged me so much a couple of years back to pray again when I didn’t feel like praying and I felt so low, because when you don’t feel like praying is the time when you really need to pray the most. Hope this can be a blessing to those who are having lots of struggles in their life that it seems hard to pray. When you don’t know how, when you don’t know what to pray, when you don’t feel like praying, pray still :) GBU.

Don Moen - I Will Sing Lord You seem so far away
A million miles or more it feels today
And though I haven’t lost my faith
I must confess right now
That it’s hard for me to pray
But I don’t know what to say
And I don’t know where to start
But as You give the grace
With all that’s in my heart

Chorus:
I will sing I will praise
Even in my darkest hour
Through the sorrow and the pain
I will sing I will praise
Lift my hands to honor You
Because Your Word is true
I will sing

Lord it’s hard for me to see
All the thoughts and plans You have for me
But I will put my trust in You
Knowing that You died to set me free
But I don’t know what to say
And I don’t know where to start
But as You give grace
With all that’s in my heart

Chorus

Trip to Bintan

8 10 2006

DSC00304Last Friday, 29 October, was a half working day for me, a big number of us went for a team outing in a 5-star Bintan Lagoon Resort on Friday and Saturday. Some of us have already went there earlier for games of golf. I was in the 2 pm batch since I decided to stay to cover for my team absence who went there in the morning. After lunch time, we headed directly to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, checked in, took the super-duper rocky ferry (some actually vomited in the ferry, some took extra precaution by consuming anti-nausea pill <- read: sleeping pill :p) reached Bintan at 2 pm Bintan time (3 pm Singapore time). We headed straight to hotel, checked in, and immediately came out to the beach with the most amazing sand I’ve ever felt, it was sooooo sooooo soooooofffftttt….. unlike those in Sentosa :p

We were divided into three groups played a total of six teambuilding games. The team are named “creatively” Sure-Win, Champions, Best Champions. haha…

Sure-Win team

The games are:
1. Don’t break the egg. Form a line in the beach, throw the egg from one person to another person, so on and so on. The distance between two persons can be as far as you like, but you cannot drop the egg. Once dropped, that’s the final distance for your group.

2. Waterpass. Pass five bottles of water from one end to another, and back. The picture below is self-explanatory :)

3. Alphabet Rope. Form a letter using a rope. The catch? Everyone must be blind-folded.

4. Overhead Gong. One person from each group ran from one end of the beach to try to hit the gong at the other end of the beach. The person is blind-folded, his/her team shouted the direction to that person.

5. Hole in my Bucket. One big bucket has been punctured with many holes. Fill in as much water as you can, and close up all the holes with as many fingers as you like. The more people a team have covering the whole, the less people a team has to get the water from the beach.

6. Raft race. In this game, we are given some poles, tires, and ropes. We are supposed to build our own raft, hopped onto it, and then race into the beach about 50 meters, and back. My team came top :)

Some spent the night having their spa and massage. Some of us went for pool, table tennis, and other activities in their Leisure Centre. Coincidentally, that night in Bintan Lagoon Resort, a new pub, club, dance place called Silk has just opened. In our room was a voucher for one complimentary drink. At around 11 pm, some of us went down to the pub. After a while, it was boring I would say. The DJ only had a few sentences I guess: “Are you ready?“, “Clap your hands!!!“, “yeah yeah yeah“. I can’t remember much, but the number of sentences he knew can surely be counted by the number of fingers in one hand. I should have ordered a lighter drink that night, like a lime juice, or probably a mixture of liquor and coke. I wanted to order Sheridan, but the waitress said that they didn’t have it. In the end, I settled with Black Russian, a mixture of Vodka and Kahlua.

IMG_0101We stayed there for about an hour before we left for club 4005. That’s a room number :p where virtually everyone gathered for games, chat, drinks, and fun. There were about 20 of us in the room, playing that simple-but-fatal fishy game. It’s about SMALL FISH, big fish, and well in the end, drunken fish :p The game is very simple: Everyone in the game gather in one big circle, one person starts the game rolling, pointing to one direction, either to his/her left or right, then say “big fish” or “SMALL FISH” while his/her hand put up a gesture (for big fish, put your two hands near to each other, for SMALL FISH, put your hands far away from each other. Hint: the picture on the left means big fish). The next person can either say big fish or SMALL FISH, if his/her “fish” is the same as the previous one, the direction stays, but if he/she changes the “fish”, the direction turns back. Do it as fast as you can, with all tricks involved (like staring to a person when it’s not his/her turn, prompting him/her to respond), some bound to make some mistakes. Lots of mistakes can happen: it’s your turn but you kept quiet or responded too late, it’s NOT your turn and you said something, or you said big fish but your hand made a big gesture meant for SMALL FISH, and so on. Whoever made the mistake, well…. drink…. and he/she starts the ball rolling again. It’s a simple but very fun game when you have 20 people gathers in one room :) We finished the game at about 4 AM in the morning when there were already few victims who were drunk hehe…

The after-math

The next morning, I woke up (I really forced myself after only had 4 hours sleep with *alcohol*) for breakfast, then followed by jetski in the beach. It was $45 for 15 minutes of jet ski. It was my first time, and it was really really fun, if you are not afraid of full-speed jetski on your own in the middle of the ocean. Highly recommended to whoever have the chance to try it out. After that, had a bit of beach volleyball, followed by Laser Quest. My team won by 950 points to -130 for the other team. huahauhua…. That’s trashing!!!

Lunch there before heading back to Singapore

And the fun ended there. We all had lunch then headed straight to Bintan ferry terminal and reached Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in one hour time. Now, what should I do after a two-weeks Europe trip and Bintan trip? Despite felt like resting at home that time, Sauw Fei and I decided to go to Expo to collect brochures from NATAS Travel Fair. It was a tiring, but very memorable and fun holiday indeed in Bintan. Thanks for the organizing committee!!!
